Heather grew up in Anderson, In. Her senior year in high school her parents had her get her EMT license, knowing she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. Immediately after graduating from Anderson High School, she began driving to work with her dad, a longtime employee of IU Health, and started working in the Emergency room at Methodist. She continued working there while attending nursing school at Purdue. Through the emergency room she was introduced to Dr. Henry Bock, who offered her a position at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indycar Series.
Dr. Bock was friends with Heather’s future in-laws who worked together to introduce Ed and Heather. Depending on whether you ask Heather or Ed, the story of their meeting is told very differently but it came down to an Indycar Physical.
Heather and Ed were married in 2005. At this point, Heather decided to leave the medical field and got her real estate license. Heather continues to work as a realtor for Encore Sothebys International Realty.
In addition to the real estate work, Heather started the Indy Family Foundation in 2006, which serves as a Benevolent Fund for the Motorsports community.
Heather and Ed, continue to be involved in the Indianapolis Community and love all things Indianapolis. You can find them all around town from haunting at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in October, cheering on the local teams, supporting their children’s schools, etc.
They are proud parents to Makenna, Ryder and Cruz and spend the majority of their time running the kids to their sports and supporting their pursuits. All 3 are in travel sports, which means that there is never a season where Ed and Heather aren’t on the road traveling.
Heather’s father, Todd Pettigrew, has been an employee of IU Health for over 40 years. Heather has so many fond memories of visiting her father at work in Wile Hall, running the halls and tunnels under the hospital, even playing the elf to Santa’s big arrival for the Christmas Lighting ceremony that Methodist used to have each year. It’s such an honor and she feels it is a full circle moment to be representing IU Health as a co-chair for Rev.
